CONFLICT & DESIGN

Client: Conflict & Design
Period: 2013 – 2014

Conflict: The contrast between C-mine, the redesigned and bustling coal mine area and the nearby Vennestraat, a commercial area with a rich diversity of cultures and tastes.

Design: A design innovation trajectory to position the diversity of the commercial trade in the Vennestraat within a global vision based on ‘the street of the senses’ with the aim to boost the trade. This within an overarching identity that fits within the history of the site.

Designinnovatietraject Vennestraat on Conflict & Design

From 15 December 2013 to 9 March 9 2014 Veerle Verbakel, together with Intrastructures, LoFi Studio and Lhoas&Lhoas, showed the results of the Designinnovatietrajct Vennestraat on the 7th edition of the Triennial for Design in Flanders.

Conflict & Design shows designers how to deal with conflict and what impact their designs have in our society. The exhibition provides food for thought about how we will be forced to interact with each other and our natural resources on fundamentally different ways in the near future.
